L’iaido est l'art traditionnel du sabre japonais consistant à dégainer, couper et rengainer. Originaire du Japon féodal, il a été systématisé par Jinsuke Hayashizaki au XVIème siècle. Le Iaïdo se pratique sous forme de katas (suite de mouvements prédéterminés). Les katas de référence, dans ma pratique, sont ceux de l'École Muso Shinden Ryu (Shoden, Chuden, Okuden) ainsi que plusieurs autres (Toyama Ryu, Eishin Ryu, Hosoda Ryu, Keishi Ryu, Shindo Munen Ryu, Seitei iai [ZNKR], Seitei iai [ZNIR]), tous objets de mon étude. La pratique honore la mémoire de Mitsunari Kanai Senseï (15 avril 1939 - 28 mars 2004), Grand Maître d'Iaïdo, ainsi que la générosité et le partage de connaissances de plusieurs autres instructeurs de renommée.

Iaido is the traditional art of the Japanese sword consisting of unsheathing, cutting and sheathing. Originally from feudal Japan, it was systematized by Jinsuke Hayashizaki in the 16th century. Iaido is practiced in the form of kata (following predetermined movements). The kata of reference, in our practice, are those of the School Muso Shinden Ryu (Shoden, Chuden, Okuden) as well as several others (Toyama Ryu, Eishin Ryu, Hosoda Ryu, Keishi Ryu, Shindo Munen Ryu, Seitei iai [ZNKR], Seitei iai [ZNIR]), all objects of our study.
