Iaido
Iaido is the traditional art of the Japanese sword consisting of unsheathing, cutting and sheathing. Originally from feudal Japan, it was systematized by Jinsuke Hayashizaki in the 16th century. Iaido is practiced in the form of kata (following predetermined movements). The kata of reference, in our practice, are those of the School Musō Shinden-ryū (Shoden, Chuden, Okuden) as well as several others (Toyama-ryū, Eishin-ryū, Hosoda-ryū, Keishi-ryū, Shindo Munen-ryū, Seitei iai [ZNKR], Seitei iai [ZNIR]), all objects of our study. The practice honors the memory of Mitsunari Kanai Sensei (April 15th, 1939 - March 28th, 2004), Grand Master of Iaido, as well as the generosity and knowledge sharing through various renowned instructors.
